1 cup (240ml) milk (or dairy-free alternative)

1 cup (240ml) boiling water or hot coffee (for enhanced flavor)
For the Frosting (Optional):

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened

2/3 cup (55g) unsweetened cocoa powder

3 cups (360g) powdered sugar

1/3 cup (80ml) milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Step 1: Prepare the Batter

Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans (or line with parchment).

In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth (1–2 minutes).

Slowly stir in the hot water or coffee—batter will be thin.
Step 2: Bake

Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
